Earlier this month, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds was given his own star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, and another comic veteran will be joining his ranks in January.
It was just announced that highly-praised actress Viola Davis – best known to the nerd community as Amanda Waller from Suicide Squad – will be receiving her star at the beginning of next year.
Davis became known for her Oscar-nominated roles in dramatic films like Doubt and The Help. The actress also had celebrated roles in Disturbed, Law Abiding Citizen, Eat Pray Love, Prisoners, and Get On Up. Most recently, Davis has recieved adoration for her role alongside Denzel Washington in his directorial debut film – Fences.
While Viola Davis has been a sought-after actress on the big screen, her most memorable – and most celebrated – role came as the star of ABC’s hit drama How To Get A Way With Murder. Davis broke down Hollywood boundaries by winning a Primetime Emmy Award for Best Actress for her role as Annalise Keating.
In 2016, Viola Davis portrayed the classic DC Comics character Amanda Waller in Suicide Squad. Waller runs the Belle Reve prison, which houses the most dangerous criminals in the world. The character ends up using her power over the prison to band together some of these criminals and convince them to go on a world-saving mission.
While the film received critical disdain, Davis was praised for her adaptation of the character.
According to CBS, Meryl Streep – Viola Davis’ co star in Doubt – will be in attendance for the Star ceremony.
