Transformers The Movie’s 30th Anniversary Steelbook, Release Date Announced

Shout! Factory is offering their forthcoming, 30th anniversary Blu-ray of Transformers: The Movie in a limited-edition steelbook packaging.

As announced earlier this month, Shout! Factory, in collaboration with Hasbro Studios, will release The Transformers: The Movie 30th Anniversary Edition this fall 2016. This beloved animated feature is being remastered, and a full-range of bonus content and collectible packaging are currently in production.

Now, Shout! Factory further celebrates the 30th Anniversary of this iconic movie with The The Transformers: The Movie Limited Edition, 30th Anniversary Steelbook (2-disc Blu-ray™ set + Digital Copy), available at Amazon and in stores at select retail locations on September 13, 2016.

The animated adventure — the first feature-length adaptation of the wildly popular toy line, which has since gone on to be one of Hollywood’s biggest blockbuster franchises, features the voice talent of Orson Welles (in his final role) and an all-star voice cast that includes Peter Cullen, Eric Idle, Casey Kasem, Judd Nelson, Leonard Nimoy, Robert Stack and Frank Welker.

This will mark the movie’s first release on Blu-ray in the U.S. and Canada; it has been released on DVD before, as a 20th Anniversary special edition. No word on whether the bonus content from that disc will port over to the new edition or whether the bonus content will be all new.

The film is available on Blu-ray in other countries, but the new edition will feature previously-unseen bonus features not available on those releases.

The steelbook edition comes with collectible Steelbook packaging, a 2-Blu-ray set of the newly remastered movie, immersive bonus content including brand-new featurettes, a digital copy of the movie and more.
