With a slew of legends set to return to the ring for the WWE, it sounds like "Stone Cold" Steve Austin will not be amongst the other former superstars on the list.

On his website, former WWE commentator Jim Ross posted a statement in which he addressed whether the Texas Rattlesnake would be coming back for one more match.

"Nope...Austin is done wrestling," Ross wrote. "However, one never knows when he might make an appearance."

The announcement by Jim Ross comes despite the rumors that the WWE would be reaching out to Steve Austin to request that he make an appearance at the Royal Rumble at the Alamodome in Austin's home state of Texas. Ross seemingly closed off the possibility of Austin's return, but he did leave room for speculation.

While the rumors have been circulating that Stone Cold may return for Royal Rumble, he seems quite content in retirement. Austin also may want to allow his body to heal after taking years of physical punishment. The former WWE superstar shared a photo on Twitter back in September of a grisly elbow injury that he sustained during his wrestling days.

During an interview on Sirius XM's Opie with Jim Norton show earlier this year, Austin was asked if he would ever return to wrestling. The 51-year-old himself said, "I have no business being in a wrestling ring."

Even if Austin was feeling healthy enough to step back into the ring, it doesn't seem like there is anyone for him to face off against. The most likely competitor would have been CM Punk. However, he has ditched the WWE ring for the octagon in the UFC.

Stone Cold Steve Austin may never appear in the ring again, but he does like to participate in the WWE's daily cycle. He recently offered some advice for Roman Reigns during a recent episode of The Steve Austin Show.

"He needs a little bit more fire on the offense, a little more active, sell on the run on defense," Austin said. "[He] needs to pick his head up. He needs to sell on the run, be more active. He has a bad habit of dying when he sells. To his credit, he will sell for anybody. He's very unselfish in the ring in regards to that."

Would you like to see Stone Cold Steve Austin return to the ring for the WWE in one last match?
