While Daisy Ridley‘s Rey was one of the focuses of Star Wars: The Last Jedi‘s first trailer, not much is known about her actual arc within the film. Nevertheless, many are expecting the heroine to continue her arc started in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and become even more of a badass.

But according to Ridley herself, there might be some obstacles – particularly mentally – that stand in her character’s way.
In an interview with The Star Wars Show during Star Wars Celebration Orlando 2017, the host remarked to Ridley how powerful Rey appeared in the first trailer. This warranted a reaction of surprise from the actress.
“Really? I didn’t take that from there.” Ridley revealed. “I mean we saw a little bit of training, and her being a bit overwhelmed, as per usual. But there’s definitely a more ominous tone.”
While Rey appeared to be a fast learner of the ways of The Force in The Force Awakens, Ridley’s answer indicates that Rey’s official training under Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) has quite a ways to go.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi, from writer/director Rian Johnson, is in post-production now for a December 15, 2017 release. The film follows-up and continues the story of the next generation of the saga as Rey, Poe, Finn, and Kylo Ren find their place in the galaxy and follow the legacy of Luke Skywalker, Leia, and Han Solo. Daisy Ridley returns to star as Rey, with other returning stars John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Peter Mayhew, Andy Serkis, Anthony Daniels, Lupita Nyong’o Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa. Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern join the cast in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
