One of the rumors floating around about why Phil Lord and Chris Miller parted ways from the Han Solo spin-off film was tied to their sense of humor, resulting in Ron Howard taking over directorial responsibilities. This might have made some fans think that Howard could take things too seriously, but based on a recent tweet, the filmmaker knows how to goof around with the best of them.

Although there’s been no official word on why Lord and Miller left the project, one of the reported causes was that, with their comedic background on films like the 21 Jump Street series and TV series The Last Man on Earth, that the duo were pushing the film into more comedic territories than Lucasfilm had wanted.

Another reported concern about the shoot was that, considering the talent they’ve accumulated for the Han Solo film, the filmmakers encouraged the cast to improvise dialogue in certain scenes that felt natural to the characters, but these improvisations started to veer away from Lucasfilm’s vision.
Whatever the reason for the filmmakers leaving the Han Solo movie, Howard appears to be thrilled to help the production based on how he’s sharing updates with concerned fans.
