The march to Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been dominated by porg fever, with merchandise, artwork, and memes becoming very popular among fans.

Daisy Ridley is also a fan of the new creatures, and she honored them recently by imitating their now-famous cry from the trailer for the new film. Check out her impression in the video above.
Doing impressions of Star Wars creatures is a time-honored tradition. The Chewbacca howl is perhaps the most ubiquitous, but it never gets old hearing a Jawa, Tusken Raider, or even Jabba the Hutt imitation. It sounds like porgs will be the next addition on that cherished list.
“It’s bringing a lot of pleasure right now,” Ridley said to USA Today, adding that the creature is “adorable” and “hilarious.”
“It’s wonderful to be working around practical things on set that have such personality.”
But when it comes to her character Rey, the fledgling Force user is not a fan of the puffin-inspired alien.
“Rey, honestly, is too wrapped up in her own journey to pay attention to porgs,” said Ridley. “Which is a sad thing.”
The Rey/Ridley dichotomy is indicative of the current Star Wars fandom, which is split on porgs. While some people are huge fans of the creatures, others are already likening them to Gungans and Ewoks, making them the laughing stock of the sequel trilogy.
Of course the jury is still out because Star Wars: The Last Jedi has yet to premiere in theaters. So we don’t exactly know just how annoying these creatures will actually be until we get to see the movie.
At this point, we’re dealing with a case of Schrรถdinger’s Porg. We’ll finally get to open the box on Friday; Star Wars: The Last Jedi premieres in theaters on December 15.
