The latest episode in the Star Wars saga has now taken to the cosmos where the stories come from. Sure, the movie is not exactly in a galaxy far, far away, but in the Earth's orbit is close enough.

The International Space Station just screened Star Wars: The Last Jedi for the astronauts on board, giving the opportunity for those beyond the planet's atmosphere to see Rian Johnson's take on the saga.

Check out the photo from NASA astronaut Mark T. Vande Hei revealing he and his colleagues in their makeshift movie theater on board the International Space Station.

They might have had to wait a week before being able to watch the new film, but it doesn't get much better than that viewing experience. Being able to watch the sci-fi/fantasy epic in space is an incomparable experience.

Kudos to NASA, Disney, and Lucasfilm for hooking them all up.

We learned last week, just before the movie premiered, that they were working on providing a digital copy of the movie to the space-faring astronauts, as confirmed by NASA's Public Affairs Officer Dan Huot.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi was praised by critics, though fans have responded to the film with mixed reactions. Despite the criticisms, the film is already a success at the box office, winning its second straight weekend despite the largest week-to-week drop in history.

Maybe we'll get the NASA astronauts on take on the film in the coming weeks, and after that it's only a matter of time before Neil deGrasse Tyson starts weighing in and complaining about how sound is impossible in the vacuum of space.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is now playing everywhere on Earth and, if you're lucky, on certain space stations in orbit.
