Lucasfilm has just released a behind the scenes look at Rogue One: A Star Wars Story online. The video clip was first shown at Star Wars Celebration Europe. In addition to lots of behind-the-scenes footage, the reel also offers comments from the film’s cast and crew.

“It’s like the fantasy you always have as a kid. Everywhere is an amazing shot with amazing characters,” says director Gareth Edwards. “The pressure’s so high. We’re making a film that’s right touching my favorite film of all time, but if you’re too respectful of it, and you didn’t do anything new or different, or takes a risk, then what are you bringing to the table?”
“It’s about the humanity of it, which just makes the whole thing so real,” says Warwick Davis.
“When you’re hearts beating and you’re actually in this situation you get something genuine that you couldn’t have planned,” says the film’s lead, Felicity Jones, in reference to filming on location and with practical sets and effects.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story takes place shortly prior to the events of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. The film follows a ragtag band of rebels on a high-stakes mission to steal the plans for the Death Star before it can be used by the Empire.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will feature characters who have appeared elsewhere in the Star Wars franchise. Most notable is Darth Vader, the franchise’s most menacing and iconic villain, who will be voiced once again by James Earl Jones. Forrest Whitaker will play Saw Gerrera, who first appeared in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the first standalone film in the Star Wars franchise. Rogue One is directed by Gareth Edwards, from a screenplay by Chris Weitz, based on a story by John Knoll and Gary Whitta. The film stars Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, Riz Ahmed as Bodhi Rook, Ben Mendelsohn Orson Krennic, Donnie Yen Chirrut Imwe, Jiang Wen as Baze Malbus, Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera, Mads Mikkelsen as Galen Erso, Alan Tudyk as K-2SO and Jonathan Aris as Senato Jebel.
