Early 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Concept Art Reveals Colorful Porgs

The breakout stars of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the porgs, almost had a very different appearance.

The porgs in The Last Jedi resemble birds which earthlings might be able to deem simply birds existing in the a galaxy far, far away. Their feathers (or fur) is merely a combination of brown and white designs, with big black eyes for a truly cute effect. However, they almost had a much more exotic appearance according to newly released concepts of the creatures.

Originally released by Yahoo, the photo below shows porgs with green, yellow, blue, ready, and zebra-stripe color combinations as they were being developed for their Last Jedi debut.

The porgs did not have the exotic, alien looks featured above, the cast of Star Wars: The Last Jedi had some interesting reactions to the creatures, nonetheless.

"I just remember doing some stuff and seeing a lot of porgs around," Finn actor John Boyega told EW. "And they are interesting, but for me, I had a love/hate relationship with them. They're very, very cute, but when you put them in a bunch, in holes, on the Millennium Falcon, that's when they start to become really, really freaky."

"They've got real big eyes, all bunched together," Boyega said, which might only emphasize their cuteness for some fans.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is now playing in theaters.
