The fourth and final season of the animated series is shaping up to be an epic affair as the Ghost crew barrels toward the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and A New Hope at a rapid pace. Check out the trailer above!
Star Wars Rebels is set to premiere with a one-hour episode on Monday, October 16 with repeat airings throughout the day on Disney XD.
The new preview is loaded with tons of epic moments and teases for the new season, and featured classic characters like Mon Mothma, Saw Gerrera, Grand Moff Tarkin, and the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn.
We also get a good look at the Death Troopers from Rogue One, see the cracks between Mon Mothma’s and Saw Gerrera’s ideologies, and even get a name drop of Director Krennic’s “Star Dust” project.
Oh yeah, we also FINALLY get our first glimpse at a fleet of X-Wing starfighters!
The trailer makes it clear that Rebels is going to be bigger and bolder in its final slate of episodes, embracing aspects of the Star Wars lore that has since become so popular.
Tarkin positions himself as a political chess player in the clip, mentioning that Thrawn’s lack of results might give way to the Empire prioritizing Krennic’s Death Star project. Given what we know about Tarkin from Rogue One, he likes to play both sides and manipulate to achieve his own ends.
Thrawn himself is shown to be fed up with Hera Syndulla, and we finally know why he brings in his ruthless bodyguard Rukh voiced by Warwick Davis. Rukh will be tasked with eliminating Hera in an effort of crippling the fledgling rebellion. โจ
Mandalore is heavily featured in the first minute of the clip, showing Sabine fighting alongside her people while using the Darksaber. Things might not go her way, though, as she’s shown being surrounded by enemy forces at one point.
And for the crew themselves, Hera and Kanan Jarrus have a couple of moments; first when he accuses his maybe-girlfriend of not putting any thought to their relationship. Toward the end, he tells her that he wishes he could see her, and she caresses his cheek, telling him “You could always see me.”
The clip ends ominously with what looks to be a series of missiles hitting the Imperial Complex on the Capital City of Lothal.
Check out the new synopsis below:
In this final season, the Ghost crew joins the growing Rebel Alliance, struggling to unite against the Galactic Empire. However, when a new Imperial threat arises on Lothal, Ezra leads the crew back to his home world to defeat the oppressive forces of the Empire under the command of cunning Grand Admiral Thrawn. Old friends are reunited and new alliances are forged as the series builds to its epic conclusion.
