We’re still reeling from Star Wars Celebration and that first teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The eighth episode in the Saga is shaping up to be an amazing film, and that new clip was loaded with a ton of awesome visuals and dynamic moments that hint at the future of the franchise.

Director Rian Johnson included many homages and references to some of the most iconic moments in the canon but some stuck out more than others, especially when he followed in the footsteps of JJ Abrams.

During Rey’s vision in the Force Awakensโ€”after she touches Luke’s lightsaber for the first timeโ€”she’s witness to many different scenes in the past, present, and future. Though she glimpses her encounter with Kylo Ren on the snowy surface of Star-Killer base, she also sees the former Ben Solo and his Knights murder a group on a rainy planet, as well as Luke Skywalker and R2-D2 surveying a chaotic fire.

The clip also faintly plays dialogue from Obi-Wan Kenobi as Ewan McGregor repeated a version of the line said by Alec Guinness: “These are just your first steps into a larger world.”

We already covered the clip in the teaser when Rey’s voice over is juxtaposed with a scene of Kylo Ren’s shattered mask, while the faint Kenobi dialogue says “seduced by the Dark Side,” but that scene is prefaced with a shot of Carrie Fisher.

The once Princess, now General Leia Organa surveys a map while her old quote from A New Hope plays faintly, as you can see above.

She says “Help me, Obi-Wanโ€ฆ” as it fades out, referencing her famous plea as captured by R2-D2.

There are other famous lines and visuals referenced in the teaser. But the increase of spotlight on Kenobi himself gives us the idea that his legacy might play a significant part in the future of the Star Wars Saga.

Could there be any truth to the rumor that Rey is not of the Skywalker bloodline, but of Kenobi’s? Hopefully we’ll learn more this December when Star Wars: The Last Jedi premiers in theaters.
