It’s been over six weeks since Morgan and Carol last appeared on The Walking Dead, and fans are starting to get impatient. The fan-favorites were featured in the second episode of the season, and helped to introduce on of the show’s newest major characters – King Ezekiel.
Once The Kingdom had been established, with Carol as the skeptical outcast and Morgan as the level-headed combat expert, the show turned it’s focus back toward the other colonies. The midseason finale, however, is finally bringing everything back together.

We knew that the episode would feature the story of Rick, Carl, and Negan back at Alexandria, but the photos and clips from ‘Hearts Still Beating’ have assured fans that Carol and Morgan would come back around as well. In addition to their inclusion in the preview, a scene featuring the two characters with Richard, Ezekiel’s right hand, surfaced online.
The clip showed some interaction between Carol and Morgan, further establishing the construction their relationship is undergoing, as well as Richard coming to them for help. It’s clear that Richard wants to go up against the Saviors, but he feels that Ezekiel won’t allow it. This is where Carol and Morgan come in.
It’s no secret to audiences that folks in Rick’s group don’t back down from a fight. Carol and Morgan may disagree about a lot, but it’s evident that neither one of them thinks living alongside Negan is a good idea. If anyone in the Kingdom is going to help stand up to the villain, it’s Carl and Morgan.
In their return, look for Carol and Morgan to start putting a plan in place to unite The Kingdom and Alexandria. They know what Rick is capable of, and how strong the two communities could be . They probably won’t see Rick until the second half of the season, but they will be preparing a meeting by episode’s end.

Richard will want to do more, possibly even organize an attack, but Carol and Morgan are smarter. They will be the key pieces in convincing the communities that they can beat Negan if they work together.
