Fear The Walking Dead: Twitter Reacts to Date Of Death

Another week, another episode of Fear The Walking Dead in the books. While last week’s episode was fast-paced and exciting, Date Of Death felt like a big step back.

There was some definite character building throughout the episode, but nothing really happened. Chris was a focal point, and Travis spent a large part of the hour complaining about his son’s behavior.

When the most exciting thing to happen in an episode is a low-level character gets shot for being dead weight, you know you’re in a slow week. The folks on Twitter reacted accordingly, and most of the feed was full of complaints for the show to move faster.

Hidden within the whining, a few gems did stand out. We had a couple of good laughs at these tweets, so they got the nod for the best tweets of the week.

My Name Is No

The biggest moment in this episode came when Brandon and the crew decided to kill Baby James because he was slowing them down. Travis was in the way of their plan, so they recruited Chris to help.

As Travis is waiting with James, Chris comes in and tells his dad that he has been right all along. Thinking he has finally gotten through to Chris, Travis embraces his son.

Chris asks Travis to trust him, just before he wrestles him to the ground and draws his gun. Everyone but Travis knew he was being played, and @AlexMcElwee had just the gif for that.

If anyone has attitude, it’s Nicki Minaj, and this gif perfectly summed up how we all would have responded to Chris’ plea for trust.

Post-Apocalyptic Parenting 101

If there has been one theme present throughout this season, it has been terrible parenting.

Madison can’t keep tabs on Nick, she has never learned how to love or respect Alicia, and Chris has gone completely crazy on Travis. Let’s face it: the zombie apocalypse is no place to raise an edgy teen.

@jaunlozano70 perfectly pointed out this enormous character flaw, and used it to suggest a possible alternate title for the series.

Fear The Walking Dead is kind of catchy, but something about How Not To Parent In The Zombie Apocalypse just rolls off the tongue.

Shane, But Less Cool

Fear The Walking Dead has drawn many parallels to its mother-series, but there is one brewing that fans aren’t happy about.

It feels like Chris is following a similar arc to Shane, but there is way less there for him to work with. Shane was a maniac that people feared, Chris is just a brat with self-esteem issues.

The two are being compared, and @HershelGreene1 is sick of it. The parody account let the world know his displeasure with the character arc. We already have one Shane, why do we need another?

A popular theory states Travis will be the one who ends up killing Chris, which will feel oddly similar to Rick and Carl killing Shane in the original series.

Tweet Of The Week

You would think that a less-than-tolerable episode of Fear The Walking Dead would garner more  action on Twitter, but the boards were absent of humor this week.

Mixed in with the complaining, whining, and overall loathing coming from most fans, @cloneposter came through again, and gave us our Tweet Of The Week for the second time this season.

When Madison and Travis finally reunited, it was meant to be a happy moment. Many of us, however, were too pre-occupied with how filthy Travis looked. In a hilarious bit of commentary, @cloneposter gave us a look at what Madison was really thinking.
