The Dead Rising franchise has been one of the most successful zombie game series’ of all time, and Capcom has set a December 2016 release date for the fourth installment. To make things even better — Dead Rising 4 will have a Christmas theme.

Dead Rising has always had an unorthodox approach to its marketing scheme, and that notion has been doubled down for the Christmas season. In the latest ad, Dead Rising was given its own version of the ‘Yule Log’ video.

You remember those videos of a warm fire burning for four hours that fill up your Netflix suggestions each December? Yeah, this zombie universe was given their own.

The 20-minute video sees a furnace, with Frank, the main character, sometimes tossing zombie limbs into the flames. Towards the end, the game pays a nice homage to The Walking Dead’s most popular villain, Negan.

The furnace itself is reminiscent of Negan’s opening credit image on The Walking Dead, but it’s the took that Frank is carrying that contains the respectful nod.

As Frank returns to the furnace for the last time, he carries a baseball bat. This bat, like Lucille, is wrapped on its top half. However, instead of barbed wire, this bat is covered in a string of Christmas lights.

This is bat is a way for a successful zombie game franchise, to pay respect to the most successful zombie brand of all time. It’s a slight nod, at best, but it’s a great little treat for fans of both Dead Rising, and The Walking Dead.

This wasn’t the first time Dead Rising had reflected on the events of The Walking Dead. The cover of the franchise’s third installment was an homage to the fan-favorite character, Daryl Dixon.
