While The Walking Dead may be a national phenomenon, it appears some educational institutions have taken things a little further. Certain colleges across the United States actually offer classes based on The Walking Dead.

When you think about student debt, and how much each individual college class costs, you start to wonder if taking a course like this would be a sound investment.

The Walking Dead‘s creator, Robert Kirkman, certainly questions these classes as well.

During an appearance on Conan, Kirkman was asked about his creation being offered as a college course. The writer had a very simple response, and one that echoes many other fans of the show.

“It’s flattering, but stupid.”

It’s hard to phrase it any better than that, right? To think that a show about zombies is being offered in an accredited institute of education is just mind-blowing. Not only does that course help you earn a degree, which gets you a job in the real world, but it costs thousands of dollars just to enroll.

According to Kirkman, that’s just a waste of money.

“15% of that debt is for a Walking Dead class? I’m not gonna feel good about that.”

Kirkman and Conan began joking about the prospects of the class, and Conan mentioned that he’d love people to enroll in a class about his show. Kirkman started to agree when they began discussing getting paid when people joined the classes.

The Walking Dead is a great show, one of the best on television, but it certainly doesn’t need its own college class. It’s good to know Robert Kirkman agrees.
