The Walking Dead: Hershel Greene Approves Of Daryl And Beth Romance

The Walking Dead fans love to fantasize about relationships. They lose their minds every time Rick so much as glances at Michonne for more than a few seconds, so when Carol and Daryl embrace one another it’s just game over.

Then, there are the relationships which never happen, similar to the latter mentioned above, which fans clamor simply at the idea of. Early on in the AMC series’ fifth season, the hot topic was whether or not Daryl Dixon and Beth Greene were forming some sort of relationship. It never played out to be anything more than Daryl caring for the youngest of surviving member of the Greene family but this was in part due to the fact that a bullet went through her head just as she was being rescued.

Had Beth survived, however, Daryl Dixon would have had Hershel’s blessing to pursue a relationship with his daughter.

During a panel at Walker Stalker Con in Nashville, Tennessee, Hershel actor Scott Wilson was asked about whether or not his character would approve of the relationship and, well, he wouldn’t disapprove. Check out Wilson’s sentiments in the video above.

“Daryl is a good man,” Wilson said. “He’s a good man. I think all of you know that. At one point does a father lose control of what he thinks? How much influence does it really have? She’s a grown woman now. She’s a grown young lady. It is what it was. I don’t know that he would’ve thrown a fit if they’d grown together, if they’d become united or whatever. I don’t think he would’ve been too terribly upset. It isn’t like Daryl is… You don’t see him really getting drunk, you don’t see him carousing, you don’t see him… You know, he’s a good guy.”

While we will never be able to see the relationship play out in Beth’s absence, this is certainly more than enough to give fans another reason to wish Dawn and the hospital story had never happened on The Walking Dead.
