The Walking Dead's eighth season has brought the show to the lowest ratings since Season 2.

After Episode 8x01 premiered to just over 11 million viewers, Episode 8x02 followed up a week later with the lowest ratings in five years. 8.923 million people tuned in for The Walking Dead's The Damned episode, which was loaded with various action sequences across different locations and the return of a fan-favorite character. The show nabbed a 4.0 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, still landing as the top rated show on cable by a considerable margin.

The total viewers are the lowest since Season 2's twelfth episode, Better Angels, which aired on March 11, 2012 to 6.89 million viewers.

Still, the AMC series has little reason to be scared. The Season 8 premiere saw a considerable boost in ratings with its Live+3 numbers, as it climbed over 3.5 million viewers in the days following its original broadcast. The massive amount of headlines and chatter surrounded Juan Pareja's shocking return as Morales will likely help build the show's Live+3 ratings further, easily helping Episode 8x02 top 10 million viewers.

In second place on Sunday night was Talking Dead, which hauled in 3.246 million viewers and a 1.4 rating.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 pm ET on AMC. For complete coverage and insider info all season long, follow @BrandonDavisBD on Twitter.
