Andrew Lincoln On 'Fear The Walking Dead' Crossover, Teases Morgan/Rick Reunion

Though Lennie James is leaving The Walking Dead to bring Morgan Jones to Fear the Walking Dead, Andrew Lincoln isn't ruling out a reunion between Morgan and Rick Grimes.

In an exclusive interview with ComicBook.com, Lincoln opened up about James leaving the flagship AMC zombie drama in favor of its sibling series set half way across the country. With Morgan and Rick having parted way more than once already on The Walking Dead, it seems not even the crossover is enough to rule out the characters coming together again.

"I think that they have an intense habit of finding each other, no matter what channel they're on," Lincoln said.

Lincoln's tease may very well be the diplomatic response to avoid spoilers. Morgan may be appearing on Fear the Walking Dead in past form during one of his long absences from The Walking Dead, indicating his character would most likely be dead following the war with Negan.

However, should Morgan Jones survive the war and The Walking Dead Season 8, a present or future version of Morgan joining Fear the Walking Dead could lead to the two shows merging entirely, allowing for Rick and Morgan to reunite, as well as the Alexandrian community expanding to include the Clark family and the characters surrounding them.

For now, though, Lincoln -- like the rest of the cast -- is really selling the tough farewell bid to James following The Walking Dead's eighth season, with this one being particularly different given the now seven-year Walking Dead history between the two actors.

"This job is, as I've said before, glorious, wouldn't trade it for the world, but there is a stinger," Lincoln said. "There's the fact that, I seem to be the guy left on the pier waving people away. That's hard, particularly when it's someone, like Morgan and Rick's relationship is beautiful in this story. It began with that man saving Rick's life, continued in saving his back, then they're almost like Gemini twins. They share the same history, common history, in finding each other, losing a wife..."
