Fans are clamoring for any information they can get about the AMC series during its long off-season, often checking spoiler-packed corners of the net to find images of the set or actors, but now something more official has made its way online. The Walking Dead executive producer Greg Nicotero has released a new clip of a zombie stumbling through the woods from the production of his latest episode.

In the Instagram video embedded below, Nicotero calls action for a walker in the woods to begin stumbling towards what it hopes will be its next meal, walking in front a sign on a tree which reads, “Rabbit Season.”

Check it out.

As for what the Rabbit Season sign may or may not indicate about the current scenarios of each characters, there is little knowledge to gain. The sign has undoubtedly been hanging since before the apocalypse but does remind us of the time when Daryl had to claim a rabbit in the woods and was almost murdered when a member of Joe’s group tried to frame him for stealing it.

There is no caption to Nicotero’s video but the fact that this particular set has not been featured on the series yet leads to the conclusion it is from the current production of Season 8. However, the safe bet is that the sign won’t make the cut of the series, anyway. It is not aged and depreciated like all settings and props but, looking closely, fans can see it has some sort of tie to the scene or episode. The slate used to mark the shot is labeled, “Rabbit Season.”

Season 8

When The Walking Dead returns in October, its Season 8 premiere will mark the 100th overall episode. However, the AMC series has no plans of slowing down after achieving such a milestone.ย

“The way we plan ahead is to live in abject terror and anxiety,” showrunner Scott Gimple told ComicBook.com. “It isn’t about necessarily planning the 100th episode, it is sort of about planning the next 100 episodes. In a lot of ways, we’ve planned out this show into many seasons from now. The comic book affords us that and then the inspiration we get from the comic and things we want to see more of.”

“What I’m hoping for the season premiere to be next year is the kick off of the nextย 100 episodes. The promise of more story and another future. Every eight episodes we try to reinvent ourselves and we’re gonna try and do it again.”

The new season, however, is shaping up to be drastically different by comparison to its immediate predecessor. With Season 7 having followed a humbled a bullied Rick Grimes, Season 8 is looking to jump right into the war fans have been craving with a “ton of action” according to executive producer Denise Huth.ย
