The day is finally upon us for The Walking Dead to return for its seventh season. The AMC series will air the first new episode in over six months tonight and it is easily the most anticipated of its entire run to date.

Tonight's episode, the first of season seven, is titled, "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be."

The title stems from the very first season of The Walking Dead's finale, an episode called, "TS-19." In the Season 1 finale, Rick's group found themselves locked inside of the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta by Dr. Edwin Jenner. The scientist was offering the group a way out of the zombie apocalypse by a nearly instant death as the CDC would immerse itself in a self-destructing wave of flames.

After Dr. Jenner changed his mind and allowed Rick's group to escape the impending explosion, Rick told Jenner, "I'm grateful." Jenner ominously replied, "The day will come when you won't be." It looks like that day might be today.

TWD Rick Negan 701

The official synopsis for The Day Will Come When You Won't Be reads, "Last season ended with Rick and our group kneeling helplessly before Negan and his group. What Negan does will haunt those who survive forever."

All summer long, fans have been convening at comic conventions and Internet comment sections to discuss who it is they think Negan killed. The most popular theories surround Glenn, Maggie, and Abraham but some brave souls believe it could have been Daryl.

Some clues were revealed in a new clip for the upcoming episode. Some fans claim to see Maggie's engagement ring amongst the brains left on the ground while others are visualizing the remnants of Hershel's clock which was left in Glenn's possession. One thing is for sure, the blanket we last saw wrapped around Daryl is at center stage, indicating Daryl's heavy involvement in the scene one way or another.

Following the premiere of The Walking Dead's seventh season, ComicBook.com will be live with Dwight actor Austin Amelio for a recap of the brutal episode and a look into the future of the series on After the Dead.

The Walking Dead returns for its seventh season on October 23 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC. For complete coverage and insider info all season long, follow @BrandonDavisBD on Twitter.
