The video “bumper” features a whole host of Cartoon Network favorites dancing their way through a retrospective of some of the network’s most memorable and iconic programming. The promo starts with Dexter from Dexter’s Laboratory and the original What a Cartoon! spin-offs dancing into The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy before they go on to Ed, Edd, and Eddy, The Powerpuff Girls, Adventure Time and more. Teen Titans Go! even makes an appearance or two among the familiar cartoon faces busting a move. You can check out the video above.
Cartoon Network launched on October 1, 1992 and programming initially consisted entirely of Warner Bros., MGM, and Hanna-Barbera cartoons and while fans can still enjoy classics like the Looney Tunes, the network moved to original programming in 1996 with What a Cartoon! That anthology program’s spin-off, Dexter’s Laboratory, is often credited as kicking off a new generation of animation and remains iconic to the network today.
The video bumper itself is also a callback to the network’s history. Bumpers have been used on the network since 2004, appearing in between series and during commercials
While this birthday bumper is a fun look back, Cartoon Network also continues to look towards the future. The iconic Powerpuff Girls recently got the reboot treatment and a brand new Powerpuff girl and newer programming, like the popular Adventure Time and Teen Titans Go!, both have movie adaptation giving the network plenty to dance about.
