Gillian Anderson is ready to put her final mark on The X-Files with the show’s upcoming eleventh season.
The X-Files Season 11 trailer was revealed at New York Comic Con, and fans are eager to see the second event series of the show’s revival. However, when asked if she would be willing to return for a twelfth season, Anderson said she’s ready to put Agent Scully behind her.

“No, no, I think this will be it for me,” Anderson told the press at New York Comic Con.
For Anderson, it was necessary to return for the show’s eleventh season because she didn’t feel like the story was complete after The X-Files Season 10.
“Because it felt like it wasn’t over,” Anderson said. “It didn’t feel like we necessarily deliver everything the fans were expecting of us last time, and so it was that.”
At this point, Anderson isn’t even sure if she’ll miss Scully one she’s gone.
“I don’t know,” Anderson said. “You may need to talk to me in a few years about that once I finally shut the door. You know, there’s always been this ‘maybe one more’ thing hanging over, but when the door is finally shut, call me up and ask me that question again.”
Anderson’s comments are likely to raise a lot of questions for fans of The X-Files. Does her departure indicate that The X-Files Season 11 will be the final season of the revival? Or could we see a new agent come in to continue the story in Scully’s place, similar to how John Doggett and Monica Reyes became the leads in the final seasons of the show’s original run?
The X-Files Season 11 sees Scully reteaming with Agent Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) returning to duty as FBI agents while they go on the search for their missing son, William.
The X-Files was revived for its tenth season in 2016. The tenth season ran for six episodes, but Season 11 has been extended to 10 episodes.
The X-Files Season 11 premieres in January 2018 on Fox.
