Harley Quinn Co-Creator Bruce Timm Reacts To Margot Robbie's Suicide Squad Look

Harley Quinn was created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm, and first appeared in Batman: The Animated Series. With Timm currently promoting Justice League: Gods and Monsters reporters used the opportunity to find out what he thought of Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn.

"It's interesting," Timm told Polygon. "It's weird. Myself — being somebody who's taken characters that pre-exist and putting my own spin on them in my own little universe — I'm very aware of how when a character that I necessarily created shows up in other media that they have to adapt it and do different things with it than I would do. So I'm very open to it to see what they're going to do. I'm actually really excited. I just today, just before the show started, saw the first image of Harley Quinn from the Suicide Squad movie, and I thought 'Woah. She looks actually pretty cute!' I was actually kind of worried I thought ‘Oh, she's going to look really, really bizarre and skanky' but nah, she's not too bad. So I'm often mistaken."

The website io9 also got a chance to ask Bruce Timm about Robbie's look in David Ayer's Suicide Squad. "I just saw the pic like a couple hours ago. It was interesting," Timm told them. "I was frankly a little nervous about what Harley would look like, but I thought she looked really cool. So I’m optimistic, we see." Tim later added, "I just saw the one shot of her in the group shot. So far so good."

See, if the co-creator of Harley Quinn can be optimistic so can the rest of you. I know, easier said than done. Traditionalist are having the toughest time but rejoice in knowing elements from her appearances in Arkham Asylum, the New 52, Suicide Squad comics and Injustice: Gods Among Us are sprinkled in there.

Take a closer look at Margot's Harley Quinn costume in Entertainment Tonight's video below.

The cast includes Jared Leto as The Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress. Viola Davis will play Amanda Waller.

Suicide Squad is being directed by David Ayer and is set to be released August 5, 2016.

I actually don't get the upset over her look.  This is the look Harley has had ever since she's been in the Suicide Squad in the comics, and it's not as if she's a saint!  Harley Quinn is a villain and always has been.  She's not a role model!
