Black Panther is experiencing a bit of a renaissance over the last year.

Actor Chadwick Boseman delivered a fantastic debut performance as T'Challa in Marvel Studio's Captain America: Civil War, setting expectations high for his upcoming solo feature. The bar only raised higher when it was learned that Creed Director Ryan Coogler would be at the helm, and since then the project has steadily added other talented actors like Michael B. Jordan and Lupita Nyong'o.

The character has also experienced great success in the comics. Writer Ta-Nehisi Coates and Artist Brian Stelfreeze have delivered a more human King of Wakanda than readers have previously seen, and fans warmly embraced it and subsequently made it the highest selling comic of 2016 thus far.

For his part in bringing the character back to relevance, Boseman was surprised by Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada with a framed print of the cover to Black Panther #1, along with the book itself, which he shared on his Twitter account with the caption: "Not a huge fan of surprises, but this was a good one. https://bit.ly/blackpantherhistory … #BlackPanther #fbf @Marvel"

The actor can be heard towards the end saying "that is amazing", and I'm sure it is the first of many accolades the actor will receive in the role going forward.
