Warning! Spoilers for Boruto: Naruto Next Generations’ 15th episode lie below!
Earlier today, the Boruto anime debuted its most recent episode, and the release brought an end to the show’s ongoing ‘Ghost’ arc. Boruto tapped into his father’s Talk no Jutsu to help redeem a friend, but the story’s end will weigh upon the hero in more than one way. After all, it looks like Boruto’s strange ocular jutsu will go bye-bye as well.
Synopses for Boruto’s next two episodes were released today, and translators have already taken to them. User @KenXyro on Twitter tackled the descriptions himself, so you can read the synopsis for “A New Path” below:
“As the Ghost Incidents which shook up the Hidden Leaf Village came to an end, the mysterious power which Boruto awakened became dormant too. Life returns to normal in the village and the Academy, but Boruto and his classmates are worrying about something.”
Judging by the synopsis, Boruto will see his strange ocular jutsu fade away now that it is no longer needed. Boruto’s eye made itself known at the same time Konoha came under attack by Sumire’s parasitic chakra siphon, so the incidents were clearly related. The hero does not have enough control over the power to use it on command, so the dojutsu will become dormant until another crisis forces Boruto's hand.
For now, fans are still in the dark about the ninja's mysterious power, but that has not stopped fans from creating their own theories. Many seem convinced the ocular jutsu is related to the Tenseigan in some way. Boruto’s eye does glow a pale blue when used, and Toneri Otsutsuki did appear to the boy in a dream to warn Boruto about his power. As a wielder of the dojutsu, Toneri’s appearance all but solidified Boruto’s connection with the Tenseigan, but the hero’s eye has yet to exhibit powers consistent with other Tenseigan users before him.
