In a series of tweets made late last night, Variety writer Cynthia Littleton brought fans their first hints at what ABC’s forthcoming S.H.I.E.L.D. TV pilot might be like, straight from the mouth of Joss Whedon during a Q&A session in promotion of Ira Glass and Mike Birbiglia’s Sleepwalk With Me.
In a series of tweets reporting from the Q&A, Littleton said:
Joss Whedon on Avengers ABC pilot– don’t call it a spinoff, its a SHIELD thing and meant to be “autonomous” to the film storylines.
“Altho joss reserves right to pepper in bits here and there. His bro Jed and Maurissa T. will be showrunners, he’ll just show up every now and then “and take credit for everything,” Joss assures.
The filmmaker also reassure fans that the long-awaited sequel to his Internet sensation Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog was still in the cards, and wouldn’t be affected by his exclusivity deal with Marvel. He said he hopes to get the follow-up into production very soon.
