A team of Riot Games has built an explosive, Ziggs-themed Arcade mini-game in just two days that's now fully available to download.

Created by a group of individuals through an occasional 2-day challenge they refer to as Thunderdome, the platformer is a multi-level experience featuring everyone's favorite fuse-lighting Yordle. During the Thunderdome challenges, any Rioter can contribute to the project so long as the full job is finished within the time limit.

Using Unreal Engine 4, Ziggs destroys tons of enemies and obstacles and his path as he progresses through several levels. Directional keys and WASD work like they'd normally would in platformers, and left-click and right-click throw bombs and satchel charges, respectively. Larger adversaries and bosses are included as well, so you can expect some challenges coming your way that'll likely keep you invested in the game for a while.

In previous Thunderdome conquests, the results of the 2-day periods haven't typically been released to the public. While that changes this time with Ziggs Arcade Blast, clarity and communication were still the main goals as opposed to going live with a final product.

"Typically the goal of most Thunderdome projects isn't to ship something to the public, and it's important to note that this is also not the main goal of this team," said Riot Pwyff at the beginning of the project. "What we're primarily experimenting with is how open can we be with our development in a 48-hour game jam? Our goals are to kick off some interesting player discussions, build a good base mini-game, scope creep the hell out of everything, put out the fires, and then hopefully release said game once we're done."

Pwyff added onto that comment that they had no idea if they'd be able to reach all of these goals, but several days later, it definitely seems that they have. From the time the Thunderdome team opened up a vote for players to decide what type of mini-game would be made to the final product being released today, the team has kept players up-to-speed on everything that's been going on with the game.

The published version of the game has been fully released, and you can get in on all the explosive action yourself by downloading the platformer here.
