Bungie confirmed that the PC version of Destiny 2 continues the trend of Blizzard games by locking players into on region.

Ever since Bungie recently announced that the second game in the series would be released via Blizzard's Battle.net instead of Steam, players have been wondering how the region settings would be handled. Other games from Blizzard such as Overwatch came with region restraints as well, a history that led players to anticipate similar circumstances for Destiny 2. Prior to the release of Monday's PC beta, Blizzard posted a helpful announcement for PC players that confirmed the game will indeed restrict players to one region when playing with other Destiny 2 players.

"Blizzard regions are the player's selected environment through which they are accepting to play with other players," the announcement from Blizzard reads. "Players may only play with other players who have selected the same region, and cannot join the games or activities of players in other regions. The player's selected region will also limit who appears in-game in a player's Friends Lists and Clan Roster. "

The announcement went on to explain that even though you're selecting a preferred region to play in whenever you start up the game, that doesn't mean that you're locked to that particular region for good. If you have a reason to switch to play with friends from a different region, or if you simply feel like switching, you're more than welcome to do so. By visiting the Destiny 2 page in the Blizzard desktop application where the game is first launched, players can re-choose their selected region from a drop-down menu with little difficulty.

PC players have been biding their time to get their hands on the beta version of Destiny 2 that is scheduled to start on Monday at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET, the beta beginning after players on other platforms were already able to test out the new game. Leading up to the release of the PC beta, Bungie said that they learned quite a bit from the PlayStation 4 beta and hoped to apply that knowledge to the PC version.

Destiny 2 is scheduled to release on Sept. 6 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
