Last month, fans were finally treated to the much-awaited trailer for Logan, the final standalone film for Wolverine. The superhero flick will house Hugh Jackman's last portrayal of the fan-favorite mutant, and he will be joined by familiar faces like Professor Xavier and Caliban. A new female character will also star in the film who is known to comic book readers at X-23. And, now, a new international poster for Logan is giving fans a better look at the young girl and Wolverine as a duo.

Fox Films Peru shared the new theatrical poster on their Twitter, and the grainy image has fans buzzing. The image shows Wolverine running with his iconic metal claws extended on one hand. His other arm is preoccupied as he carries X-23, and the girl can be seen looking over her shoulder.

The new image further solidifies rumors that Wolverine and X-23 will be one of the main relationships in Logan. Fans already know from the trailer that Wolverine will assist X-23 in the film as she evades a shadowy military group, but their partnership may evolve beyond battle and become something more paternal.

If you are not familiar with Logan, then you should know the upcoming blockbuster will follow Wolverine in the year 2024 when mutants are all but extinct. The X-Men are a thing of the past, and Logan finds himself caring for an aging, sickly Professor X. However, the two become entangled with an organization known as Transgien after they learn the company is turning mutant children into living weapons. Logan's conflict with Transgien becomes personal when the older mutant meets a young mutant girl who is being hunted by the group, and Wolverine learns she is more like him than he could have ever imagined.

Clearly, Logan is set-up to be a darker superhero flick than its predecessor. Previous X-Men films have explored everything from apocalyptic future to self-righteous genocide, but Logan will separate itself by focusing on the grief which comes with age. And, of course, there will be plenty of bloodshed thanks to Logan and his adamantium claws.

Set in the future of 2024, Logan and Professor Charles Xavier must cope with the loss of the X-Men when a corporation lead by Nathaniel Essex is destroying the world leaving it to destruction, with Logan's healing abilities slowly fading away and Xavier's Alzheimer's forcing him to forget. Logan must defeat Nathaniel Essex with the help of a young girl named Laura Kinney, a female clone of Wolverine.

Logan hits theaters on March 3, 2017, followed by Deadpool 2 on January 12, 2018. Movie versions of Gambit, New Mutants and X-Force are still being developed.
