The Arrow half of the The Flash/Arrow two-night crossover event will begin filming on Monday, according to Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim -- and longtime comic book fans will be pleased to know that the episode is titled "The Brave and the Bold."

A title often associated with Batman due to both a long-running comic book series and a shorter-running animated series by the same name that generally featured the Dark Knight, "The Brave and the Bold" was also the name of a pair of miniseries starring the characters involved in the TV crossover.

In late 1991 and early 1992, The Brave and the Bold was published as a six-issue miniseries starring Green Arrow, the Question, and the Butcher and written by Mike Grell and Mike Baron.

In 1999 and 2000, DC Comics published a six-part miniseries titled The Flash and Green Lantern: The Brave and the Bold. This mini-series was written by Mark Waid and Tom Peyer with art by Barry Kitson and Tom Grindberg and was marketed as a companion to Waid and Kitson's JLA: Year One maxiseries. Waid returned to the title later as an ongoing series starring a rotating cast of DC heroes teaming up in usually one-on-one or at least one-on-a-team stories.

The episode will be directed by Jesse Warn, who also helmed last year's "The Man Under the Hood" and will direct this year's third episode of The Flash, titled "Things You Can't Outrun." Warn has also done a lot of work on Spartacus, a series from which the Arrowverse tends to draw a lot of its recurring guest stars.

Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, who serve as executive producers and showrunners on both series, wrote the plot, with the episode's teleplay written by Guggenheim and Grainne Godfree, a relative newcomer who came from The Tomorrow People last season at The CW.

The first part of the crossover, titled "Flash vs. Arrow," will air as the eighth episode of The Flash.
