Directors have been selected for the upcoming Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel, Leatherface, Ain't It Cool News reports.

Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, best known for the French horror thriller Inside, and the upcoming Livide, are set to helm the new film.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre series revolves around Leatherface, a serial killer who wears masks made of human skin. Along with his inbred family, he terrorizes, murders and cannibalizes unsuspecting victims along. The original film was released in 1974 and is considered one of the first films of the slasher genre. It is reported that murderer and body snatcher, Ed Gein was the inspiration for the villain.

The last film in the series, Texas Chainsaw 3D, which picks up after events of the original film was released in January 2013.


Leatherface is currently in pre-production.
