If given the opportunity, Anne Hathaway would reprise her Catwoman role and return to the DC Universe.

While speaking to IGN during an Interstellar junket, the actress, who played Selina Kyle and Catwoman in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, revealed that she would love to visit Gotham another time, but only under a very particular circumstance.

"I would be totally up for doing it if Chris [Nolan] was involved," Hathaway revealed. "For me, the thing that made doing that part particularly fun was that she existed in his Gotham. Without him I don't think it would be the same thing."

The chances of Nolan returning to the director's chair for another Batman film, unfortunately, seem painfully slim. As Warner Bros.'s DC film plans move further away from his Dark Knight universe and deeper into Zack Snyder's Justice League one, Hathaway would probably never get her wish.

Still, that doesn't stop her from wanting a cameo in DC's cinematic universe or her own solo picture later down the line. As she speculated, Hathaway considered the pros and cons of both possibilities.

"When the focus is squarely on her, I don't know if it works as well," Hathaway mentioned, before saying, "I think she's got an amazing backstory and it would be great to see her get her own film. But I don't know – she is someone who… mystery serves her well so I don't know what a whole film would do. But who knows?"

Given the great pains that Nolan has taken to isolate The Dark Knight universe from any other super heroes, it's difficult to see Hathaway's Catwoman break the barrier into a different comic book universe. Her story seemed to come to a relative close at the end of The Dark Knight Rises anyway, as she shecked up with Bruce Wayne in a foreign country.

Hathaway's latest film, Interstellar, hits theaters today.
