Divergent actor Jai Courtney will be playing George "Digger" Harkness, aka Captain Boomerang in the Suicide Squad movie. In a new interview, Jai expresses his excitement to play the Australian super-villain and to work with director David Ayer ("Fury").

"David Ayer was really the major point of attraction for me, with this," Jai told MTV's Josh Horowitz. "It's funny, Shia Labeouf and I were on a road trip to New Orleans to work on a film we did together called Man Down. And we were talking about David because he had just done Fury. We were talking about that experience and I was fascinated by what he put the guys through in order to get ready for that. It sounded amazing."

He then goes on to explain that he had another conversation with Shia in which he said he would never do a comic book movie because he believe it was a "tired" and "saturated" genre. Then two weeks later David Ayer reached out to Jai for a role in Suicide Squad and Jai immediately changed his tune.

He also says that he has seen concept art of the costume, which of course he is enthusiastic about. Jai says the film will be "dope," "dark" and "cool." He added, "It won't be a comic book movie we've seen before."

Check out the interview in the video below.

Suicide Squad is due in theaters August 5, 2016.
