Twin Peaks Revival Still Moving Forward

The upcoming, third season of Twin Peaks is still reportedly on in spite of comments from series co-creator David Lynch which seemed to shed some doubt yesterday.

Lynch had said that there were "complications" with the forthcoming Showtime limited series and that he wasn't sure it was still on -- but Entertainment Weekly claims that both Lynch and series star Kyle Maclachlan have already signed their contracts, and that all of the scripts have already been received for the series.

Lynch, who directed six of the original 30 episodes as well as a feature film prequel to Twin Peaks, is expected to direct all nine new Twin Peaks episodes from scripts he wrote with co-creator Mark Frost. There has been some fan speculation online that while the series might go forward, it could do so without Lynch directing as much as had been previously reported.

At least so far, Showtime is dismissing any concerns.

"Nothing is going on that's any more than any preproduction process with David Lynch," a source said close to the show told Entertainment Weekly. "Everything is moving forward and everybody is crazy thrilled and excited."

The project is expected to go before the cameras fairly soon for a 2016 release.
