Not only is Hellboy one of Dark Horse Comics' flagship characters; he's also a brand-new species of dinosaur.

Scientists have discovered the bones of the triceratops' close relative, officially named the Regaliceratops peterhewsi. But you can just call the big guy "Hellboy," thanks to the tiny demonic horns adorning his head.

Hellboy roamed the Earth during the Cretaceous period, about 70 million years ago. And while scientists discovered the dinosaur's bones about 10 years ago, they only noticed its Hellboy horns during recent museum preparations.

"Once it was prepared it was obviously a new species, and an unexpected one at that. Many horned-dinosaur researchers who visited the museum did a double take when they first saw it in the laboratory," Caleb Brown, of the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology, told NPR.

Whereas a normal triceratops has large horns above its eyes, the Regaliceratops has short, stubbly ones—just like Mike Mignola's comic book creation. See, Hellboy? You're not the only one with horn envy.
