Homer And Marge Will Legally Separate In The Simpsons Season 27

It sounds like The Simpsons Season 27 is getting ready to throw the show's established status quo out the window. Previously, it was revealed that Sideshow Bob will finally kill Bart. Now it seems the that Homer and Marge's marriage is heading for a rough patch.

Executive Producer Al Jean broke the news during a conversation with Variety:

In the premiere, it's discovered after all the years Homer has narcolepsy and it's an incredible strain on the marriage. Homer and Marge legally separate, and Homer falls in love with his pharmacist, who's voiced by Lena Dunham. We'll have cameos from the other women from Girls.

The Simpsons is an animated sitcom, so there's a fair chance that the separation won't last longer than the premiere episode. Still, it seems nothing is sacred in Springfield anymore.

The Simpsons Season 27 is about to begin production.
