The first real details about Halo 5: Guardians were released during Microsoft’s press conference today. After a brief trailer explaining that a group of new Spartans were hunting down Master Chief, the conference brought fans straight into gameplay. Your chief mission giver in the game is played by Nathan Fillion, whose Gunnery Sergeant Buck returns, now as a primary character.

Playing as Spartan Locke, new squad-based controls were shown, including being able to direct squad members to attack high priority targets, or heal your fellow squad members. A new scan system lets you identify objects in the game world like weapons caches.
You’ll play both sides of the story, however, they confirmed, with two distinct squads of Spartans, one led by Locke, the other by Master Chief.
Microsoft and 343 Games also announced the new “Warzone” mode, featuring 24 players, AI-controlled adversaries, and maps four times the size of previous games. Check out the trailer for the new mode here.
The game drops October 27, 2015 on the Xbox One.
