One of the Flash's biggest surprises in season one was the character Cisco Ramon. Played by Carlos Valdes, Cisco helped make The Flash a fun, confident series that wasn't afraid to wear its heart on its sleeve.

But Cisco gave more than just super powered nicknames and punchlines. As season one's later episodes revealed, Cisco is undergoing some strange biological changes that will--ideally--transform him into the DC Comics superhero Vibe. As The Flash heads into its second season, all of those elements that made Cisco a treat will continue full-speed ahead. On hand to discuss Cisco's future at San Diego Comic Con, actor Carlos Valdes teased Cisco's next steps towards becoming the superhero, potential new nicknames, and future romantic relationships.

Will Cisco take further steps towards becoming Vibe in season two?

As people saw near the end of season one, there are biological changes happening inside Cisco, particularly with the dreams. Fans can definitely expect more of the changes to take effect pretty early on into season two.

What's it like representing the Latino community as a geeky, comic book Latino?

It's great. But you know, I don't really perceive it as a unique opportunity to represent Latinos on television. I'm just trying to play a character. There's really nothing that makes me different other than my culture, so it seems like a no-brainer to have somebody from this culture be represented the way that we are. We want to show to represent the culture we live in, and so it makes total sense to me.

What can you tell us about the Team Flash dynamic coming this season?

The team Flash dynamic is constantly messed with on the show. We're just trying to save people, and we're just trying to be friends while we do it, but nobody wants that to happen. I guess as they save, you give a character what they want and make them happy, and then you immediately take that away. I think relationships will definitely be put to the test, probably even more so than season one.

Speaking relationships, what romances are in store for Cisco?

There's definitely a romantic interest or two that will pop up in season two. Cisco definitely thinks he's a lady's man [laughs].

It seems like you and Lisa Snart hit it off pretty well. Will that relationship continue into season two?

I think it's really fun working with [actress] Peyton List. She brings a lot to the Lisa Snart character, so I really hope they bring her back. But I think it's really cool. Lisa and Cisco have a relationship there, and they initiated something. I think it would be really interesting to see how that plays out. Cisco is definitely feeling her, but whether or not she's feeling him remains to be seen.

Will Cisco come up with any new superhero nicknames this season?

Oh man, to be honest, some people are trying to steal Cisco's thunder. Other characters will want try naming superheroes and villains. I think Cisco will respond in different ways to that. And that's all I can really say [laughs].

Will we see the rivalry between Cisco and Pied Piper continue?

I hope so. I love working with [actor] Andy Mientus. We actually went to high school together, and it was so weird working with him. It was weird, but so awesome.

Will we see Cisco in a superhero costume this season?
I really hope so, but I don't know. It would be so fun. I mean, who doesn't want to be in a super suit? But I know that it's a bit complicated, what with the material that the suit's made of. But yeah, I want to do that! Why not?
