During the Gotham panel today at Wizard World Chicago, series star Ben McKenzie was quizzed about his show being pitted against Supergirl Monday nights this fall.

After McKenzie, Sean Pertwee and surprise guest Milo Ventimiglia passed the question around and made jokes, McKenzie himself answered, saying that there's no bad feelings, and that he hopes Supergirl does well...even though he hopes viewers will watch Gotham live and DVR the stories of the Girl of Steel.

"...Because I am a little bit competitive," McKenzie joked.

He stressed that as more original programming comes out aimed at the comics audience, it was bound to happen that eventually two shows would be scheduled against one another in prime time.

But, he admitted, "It's about time we saw a female superhero," stressing the point with, "Jesus."

Gotham starts back up on Monday, September 21, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX. It will bring back a number of characters from the first season, but add new faces both familiar to comics readers and not.

The show's first season arrives on Blu-ray and DVD on September 8.

Supergirl launches in November on CBS, at the [ahem] same bat-time.
