Jenna Coleman's Doctor Who Departure Confirmed

The BBC has released a statement confirming that Doctor Who star Jenna Coleman will leave the show during Series 9.

The BBC has not revealed which episode will be Coleman's last, and the ultimate fate of her character, Clara Oswald, remains a mystery.

Coleman made her Doctor Who debut playing the character Oswin in Asylum of the Daleks. She returned as Clara in the 2012 Christmas Special, and remained companion to the Eleventh Doctor during the second half of Series 7. She then joined the Twelfth Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi, for Series 8.

"Jenna has been absolutely brilliant. I think she's wonderful in the show, and she's my favorite companion," Capaldi said as part of the statement.

The final fate of "the Impossible Girl" will be revealed in Doctor Who Series 9, premieres Sept 19.
