Kiefer Sutherland Says 24 Is Definitely Over For Him

In June, Fox announced plans to reboot 24 with an all new cast of characters. Before they came to that decision they tried to lure Kiefer Sutherland back one more time, but the 48-year-old actor told them that he was done playing Jack Bauer ... for good. Now the actor, in his own words, reiterates that he's done with 24.

"24 is definitely over now for me," Kiefer told the BBC while promoting his upcoming western Forsaken. "It's one of the greatest gifts I've ever been given as an actor, but it's moving on without me, I want to do other things."

Keifer says he plans to work less, in hopes that by being selective with his next project he can find something that can connect with a larger audience like 24 did. You might think he would try his hand at feature films again, but the veteran actor sees more potential in the small screen.

"I want to do more television," he said. "My experience of 24 was unbelievable, but the main benefit was that it was nice to do something that people actually watched, and that they enjoyed. There are some movies I've made people might have enjoyed, but there were nine of them watching. And so 24 was so refreshing - the most significant thing was that it was accessible to a lot of people and to know they enjoyed it was so rewarding for me. I don't think there's a better medium than television out there at the moment. So think I want to do more of it and look for projects where I can repeat my experience."

24 fans will have to be satisfied with the finale of 2014's 24: Live Another Day, which ended with Jack Bauer turning himself into the Russians so that they would let Chloe O'Brian, his best and the only friend he has left, go free. Too bad that means Jack is stuck in a Moscow prison cell right now being flogged by Olga. But hey, thanks for saving our country over and over again.
