It has been a long time since Fox decided to cancel Joss Whedon's sci-fi/western mashup television series, Firefly, but you would never know it based on the crowd that came out to see members of the cast -- Nathan Fillion (Captain Mal Reynolds), Alan Tudyk (Hoban Washburne), Gina Torres (Zoë Washburne) and Jewel Staite (Kaylee Frye) -- at New York Comic-Con on Saturday. Over three-thousand people filled up the ballroom at the Javits Center.

Firefly was cancelled 13 years ago, aired only 14 episodes (shown of out-of-order by Fox) and had one feature film (2005's Serenity). It has a huge and loyal fanbase that hungers for more, and at New York Comic-Con the cast members on hand said they'd be game to star in a second season if it was offered.

"Full-time, please," Fillion said.

"Otherwise they would cast new people," Staite said.

"And nobody wants that," Torres added to thunderous applause

Part of Firefly's charm was that the characters would speak Chinese at times asWhedon had developed a wholebackstory that made it plausible that Chinese and American culture would mix. To help the English speaking cast speak Chinese they were provided with cassette tapes of their foreign dialogue. However, not everyone used them. "I have a confession to make," Staite said. "I never listened to the tapes. I just winged it. All of my Chinese was ADR'd later on. They couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting it."
