Deadline is reporting that Mission: Imposible - Rogue Nation breakout star Rebecca Ferguson is in the mix for a major role in Ridley Scott's Prometheus sequel, which is titled Alien: Paradise Lost.

They go on to say that there have been "no concrete" talks between Fox and Ferguson's representatives, but the studio is said to be very interested in the Swedish actress, who they tried to court for the female lead in Gambit, which she passed on for The Girl on a Train.

Another interesting note: Deadline claims Alien: Paradise Lost "is prepping at Fox to go into production in the latter half of next year." Just last month, Scott said production on the Prometheus sequel would begin in March. Additionally, the latest draft of Michael Green's script has been turned in and it said to be "very strong with a peach of a major female role."

That major female role -- Ferguson is in the mix for -- is probably one of the new characters Scott told Awards Campaign about. He spoke of what's in store for Elizabeth Shaw (Naomi Rapace) and David's (Michael Fassbender) head as they travel to the planet of the Engineers. "And they will be in that alien craft that takes them there, but with a new group that's incoming, a new group of travelers in the beginning of the first act," revealed Scott.

Alien: Paradise Lost is expected to release in 2017.
