Nintendo revealed today during its Nintendo Direct presentation that Final Fantasy VII protagonist Cloud Strife will be joining Super Smash Bros. as a playable DLC character.

The Nintendo Direct presentation showed Cloud in action,m wielding his signature Buster Sword and joined by a cameo from the Final Fantasy series’ mascot Chocobos.
Futher details on Cloud’s joining Super Smash Bros. will be revealed during a special Super Smash Bros. Nintendo Direct in December.
