Tomb Raider Movie Reboot Has Found A Director

The Tomb Raider movie reboot has finally found a director. Roar Uthaug, best known for Norwegian disaster film The Wave, will helm Lara Croft’s next cinematic adventure for MGM and Warner Bros, according to THR.

Transformers 5 co-writer Geneva Robertson-Dworet is also in talks to write the film’s screenplay.

The film will be based on the Tomb Raider videogames, which follow archeologist-adventurer Lara Croft as she uncovers lost relics, ruins, and the supernatural power they house. The game series itself recently underwent a successful reboot, and the followup game, Rise of the Tomb Raider, was released earlier this month.

Angelina Jolie portrayed Croft in the first Tomb Raider movie, released in 2001.

Details for the reboot film’s plot are being kept under wraps, besides the fact that it will chronicle Croft’s first adventure, a similar premise to the Tomb Raider reboot game.
