Two British actors very familiar to genre fans have been nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star award. John Boyega, who stars as Finn in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Taron Egerton, who played the young recruit "Eggsy" in Kingsman: The Secret Service were both among this year's BAFTA nominees.

The pair will go up against Brie Larson, Dakota Johnson, and Bel Powley for the award. This BAFTA award is voted on by the public, so popularity of a film like Star Wars does fit into the equation on this particular one. The rest of the BAFTA nominations are coming Friday, January 8, 2016.

Next up for Boyega is The Circle with an all-star cast including Emma Watson, Tom Hanks, Bill Paxton, plus fan favorites like Karen Gillan and Patton Oswalt. He also heads back to the set of Star Wars for Episode VIII this month, due to hit theaters May of next year.

Egerton, meanwhile, will play Robin Hood in a new, younger take on the character, Robin Good: Origins (hopefully they don't sew Little John's mouth shut), and is also due to reprise his character of Eggsy for another go in 2017's Kingsman 2. He was also one of the earliest rumored actors in contention for the coveted role of young Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars Story standalone film, though his name hasn't been mentioned in the most recent reports.
