Hayley Atwell Cast in New ABC Pilot as Lead

Hayley Atwell, titular star of Agent Carter on ABC has just been cast as the lead in another ABC pilot. The show, Conviction, has not yet been ordered to series.

The new pilot has Atwell playing "the brilliant-but-rebellious daughter of a Clinton-like political family, who is forced into taking a job as the head of Los Angeles' newly created Conviction Integrity Unit," TVLine reports. She'll look at cases where there may have been a wrongful conviction, with the goal of overturning them in those cases.

Of course, Agent Carter fans are going to look at this as a bad omen for the series, which has not yet received a season 3 order, and has had lower ratings in its second season than its first. Those ratings have at least evened out with more consistency in the last couple of weeks. TVLine says all hope is not lost, though. They say if Conviction gets a series order and Agent Carter gets a season 3, ABC will work Atwell's schedule out to do both series.
