While critics won’t be receiving advanced screeners of Game of Thrones Season 6 in the mail or via online services, HBO did hold a big premiere event in Los Angeles, where they debuted the season premiere episode, “The Red Woman.”

While those who saw the episode are bound to avoid spoilers at all costs, outlets like EW have shared some interesting, spoiler-free insights about the premiere.
As with previous Game of Thrones season premieres, not every member of the show’s core cast makes an appearance in “The Red Woman.” However, those eager to learn more about Jon Snow’s fate should rest assured that the episode spends a lot of time at Castle Black, though there was no mention of how that time was spent.
What’s different is that previous premieres tended begin the slow buildup that has characterized the first half of past Game of Thrones season, resetting the stage after the previous season’s finale. The Season 5 finale ended with several cliffhangers, and so Season 6 begins at a much faster pace than its predecessors.
The reports also say that the episode has some twists that even the most obsessive of Game of Thrones speculators won’t see them coming. On top of that, most of the footage from the Game of Thrones Season 6 trailer occurs either in the premiere episode, or seems likely to occur in the second episode. Combine that with the fact that Game of Thrones will be going off book from its source material this season and we’re looking at a season where fans will have practically no idea what to expect.
Game of Thrones Season 6 premieres April 24 on HBO.
