The next generation of Nintendo console is on its way.Nintendo formally announced it will launch its new console, codenamed “NX” in March 2017, with The Legend of Zelda acting as the system’s main launch title. Nintendo first announced it was developing the NX back in 2015, with rumors suggesting that the new console would be a true “next generation” system, with capabilities that either exceed or were equal to the Playstation 4 and XBox One.Rumors have also suggested that the game will have a smaller, more streamlined controller than the Wii U, but will keep the Wii U’s second “portable screen” feature.

The Legend of Zelda was originally announced back in 2014 as the Wii U’s first Zelda game.Unlike past Zelda games, The Legend of Zelda was designed as an “open world” game similar to Skyrim. The Legend of Zelda will now be simultaneously released for both the Wii U and NX, similar to The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, which was released for both the Gamecube and Wii.
Curiously, the NX will not be featured at this year’s E3 convention, which will be the last major convention prior to the NX’s release.Instead, Nintendo announced that The Legend of Zelda will be the company’s main focus.
