Universal Announces Untitled Monster Movie For 2019

There were be monsters in theaters for each of the next three years, as Universal has added a third installment of the Alex Kurtzman-directed Universal Monsters interconnected universe to the schedule.

That means that between Tom Cruise's The Mummy in 2017 and then a pair of as-yet-unannounced films on the schedule for 2018 and 2019, there will be at least three movies in the "cinematic universe" being built around Universal's classic monsters.

Deadline reports that it isn't yet clear whether the new movies are entirely new, or whether one of them will be a planned reboot of The Invisible Man set to star Johnny Depp in the lead role.

I continue to hold out hope that they're building all of this up to an Avengers-style reboot of The Monster Squad.
